Cloud vs. on-premises operation¶
Rillsoft Integration Server is available in two operating models:
Cloud — hosted by Rillsoft, no own server required.
On-premises server — operated on the company’s own network.
Which of the two operating models a company chooses is usually decided once during initial setup, see Set up RIS: server or cloud.
Feature difference: LDAP is on-premises only¶
The currently known functional difference between the two models concerns user management: LDAP integration (importing users from an existing Active Directory environment) is available exclusively on the on-premises server, not in the cloud variant, see LDAP.
Note
This page documents only the currently confirmed difference (LDAP). Further differences between cloud and on-premises operation (e.g. in maintenance, updates, or data storage) are not part of the existing RIS sources and are therefore deliberately not listed here.
