Retention period

Goal: you permanently delete projects marked as deleted and old resource pool revisions from the database.

If you delete a project for the first time, it is not actually removed from the database, only marked as deleted. This lets you restore the project later if needed — for example after an accidental deletion. The retention period module lets you permanently delete projects marked for deletion, and old resource pool revisions, from the database.

Prerequisite: in the client properties

Step by step

  1. Click the Retention period button.

After clicking Event Log, you can see which data was permanently deleted from the database.

Note

  • A folder is only permanently deleted once all projects it contains have been permanently deleted after the retention period.

  • Permanently deleted projects/folders cannot be restored.

  • Returning to a deleted revision (project/resource pool) is not possible.

You can automate the retention period process by creating a scheduled task under Start > Control Panel > Administration > Task Scheduling.
